As finals mark the last weeks of the Fall 2017 semester at UH, the upcoming design freeze also marks the end of the design phase for Rick (our car). The design phase is extremely crucial in the process of making a racecar; it not only needs to have the end product in mind, but also has to take into account how everything will be assembled. The design freeze facilitates this organization by providing a basis in which different subteams can refer to during the manufacturing process.
This Thursday, November 30, the main assembly of the car will have its design frozen on OnShape. Now, pre-manufacturing preparations can begin, and the car itself begins to take shape not only on our computers, but in our shop. Make sure to check back again next month to see our progress with manufacturing!
